FSC #4 Tallahassee 2009 : Gone Riding's FSC #4 on Tom Brown Park's Magnolia Trail and Lafayette Heritage Trail Park's eponymous doubletrack #1-23, Loblolly Trail #12L-9L, and Cadillac Trail 24C-1C. Total damage was ~2840 (4.4GB) stills, ~160 (3.1GB) video clips. If I catch anything horribly out of focus, or a snap of a tree instead of the rider, I'll delete. Typically, I don't even look at everything. Yes, I know the camera zaps exposure every now and again. I have beaten the heck out of that camera. You guys have even drenched it crossing Conner Creek. But we soldier on... Video will take longest to upload, as in during the next week...or so. Check here for the videos. Past years' action. FSC #3 2003 : I keep digging up MTB race snaps as I gradually take another tour through my old crappy photos. These are from the 19 October 2003 Gone Riding Florida State Championship series event based at Tom Brown Park. Results here. With a gallery full of shots, you may find it easier to navigate if you change the gallery "style" (top right) from "smugmug" to "all thumbs." FSC #1?? 2004 : Hey MTBe'ers, I forgot I had these! These 500+ shots from me and Greg Herold were originally posted on my now dead ClubPhoto site. I suppose these photos are from FSC #1, 10 October 2004. All I know is that's the date on our archived photos. 10 Oct is late for FSC #1. Was this race rescheduled that year? Check this Gone Riding 2004 results archive and see if you can figure it out. For that matter, check out the names in these results for a blast from the past. FSC #3 Tallahassee 2008 : Scroll WAAAAAY down past all this annoying text to view the maps, photos and videos! NOTE: I HAVE MOVED ALL THE VIDEOS to the END OF THIS GALLERY - after the ~1200 photos. Otherwise, an attempt to change the gallery "Style" from "SmugMug" to "Slideshow" (top right of this page) will cause the slideshow to stop when it encounters a video. Lots of poorly focused photos from the 11-12 October 2008 FSC #3 are posted. Apologies in advance for many of the photos. Hopefully, the videos will make up for it. Add your own music - I like the sound of tires on dirt. Perhaps one day I'll take time to mix in some tunes with the tires. No, I won't look for all the photos with your bib number and email them to you. Yes, I've been asked. I think the professional photogs do something like that. I'm the freebie "runner with a camera" dude. You get what you pay for. FSC #3 order of events. NOTE the 5pm SATURDAY "Bonus Team Time Trial Up to 5 points" - whatever that means. I'm a runner with a camera, not a biker racerboy. Round Sponsor for FSC #3 was (once again) Higher Ground Bikes, 850-942-2453. "Round Sponsor" means HG owner Todd May puts up bucks (many thousands) so that this event stays in Tallahassee. I'm not aware of any other Tallahassee bike shop that in recent years has donated a significant amount of money to local MTB events or trailbuilding. None. You folks do realize it's simplicity itself to download any of the photos on this site full resolution, right? No, don't right-click and save. You're unlikely to get the preferred full resolution photo. Yes, hover your mouse pointer over a featured shot (larger than thumbnail), wait for the little menu to fly out, click "Save Photo." That will give you every pixel of the shot that I uploaded, in the case of this gallery, ~3MB each. Vids are similar. I think they save to iPod friendly MPEG-4/H.264 format. Def better than YouTube! FSC #1 Tallahassee 2007 : These ~1100 snaps are from Gone Riding's Florida State Championship Series race #1 in Tom Brown Park's Magnolia Trail and the adjoining Lafayette Heritage Park (Cadillac Trail). I used 2 cameras - I began sorting the photos chronologically. These are photos after #7260, Dave Stotts' reporter/interview photo. (I missed by 7-8 minutes when attempting to synchronize the two cameras' clocks. Doh! So SmugMug's ability to auto-sort a gallery chronologically is useless in this case.) I went ahead and gave an extremely cursory thinning out of these photos. Deleted ~50 that were badly out of focus. I missed many more that could have also been deleted. The vast majority of the shots were with my beater D70 and 50mm f/1.8D (75mm digital crop equivalent) run mostly on the wide open side of things. This is a good combo for low light in the deep woods, but hard to focus when the action is in tight. (You riders saw how I had to wedge off-trail in the weeds as you whizzed by.) Depth of field is non-forgiving, hence risk of out of focus. But these are free, so no whining, ok? As to my abysmal photo skills, I'm a runner with a camera (or two) in my hand, not a photographer. I do suggest some PS "FILL-FLASH/REDUCE BACKLIGHT" before printing many of the backlit shots. In other words, if your face is dark, but the background is bright. Contact me if you don't know what that means. Nearly all of the morning photos (White Wave) are from the Cadillac Trail section of the race. FSC #3 Tallahassee 2006 : Lemme guess . . . you were misdirected to this gallery, expecting to find the 2008 FSC #3 photos. Well, they aren't here. You're looking at photos from TWO YEARS AGO. Doh! I knew that Fat of the Land front page shot looked familiar, but somehow wrong. Heck, I couldn't even use my "save your bacon" lens out on the course this year. It's needed to go to the camera hospital for a long time. The 2008 photos ARE here. While we're at it, the 2007 FSC #1 photos are here. And I went ahead and dredged up and re-posted the 2004 photos and the 2003 photos from the old website.
