Classy Tallahassee Bikini Bicyclist Fan Club Meet & Greet : RECENT NEWS:
28 July: I have this netbook computer ready to give to Richard. He'll be able to communicate with the group and enjoy a virtual life as he sees fit from "on the road."
AUGUST update on Richard's computer. I've been unsuccessful getting the computer to Richard. If anyone can contact him to arrange a meetup, I'd appreciate it. Failing that, the netbook may be "repurposed." Thanks!

Photos 1-56 from the SUNDAY, 28 June '09 Classy Tallahassee Bikini Bicyclist Fan Club "Meet & Greet."
Sign up and join this (as of this typing) 3500+ member group!
We spent a couple hours with Richard Irby, the speedy Speedo-clad cyclist, at Helen's Silver Bullet Diner.
Speaking of Speedos, apparently there's a National Speedo crisis in Ireland.

Photos 57-126: MONDAY, 29 June at 6pm, we met at the Corner Pocket Bar & Grill. A pro videographer and photographer documented, and St. Pete Times and Tallahassee Democrat reporters interviewed Richard and the gang.
(Re the Monday photos, please be kind - all the Monday photos were shot in a typically dark bar, no flash, hand held, f/3.5-5.6 zoom (instead of the 50mm f/1.8 conveniently forgotten at home). Shot at ISO 1600 to reduce blur - but then you've got grain. Just 'shop anything that needs major tweaking with some magic Adobe filter and maybe this for the digital grain, m'kay? I did a crude tweak job on 7 of the worst photos. Left the originals, so you may DIY.)

Online Tallahassee Democrat report re Monday night's get together here or here.
St. Pete Times online article here.
ABC News picked up on Richard's story here.
17 August: The Netherlands picks up the story here.

Read some background on Richard in Brian Ramos' online Tallahassee Democrat article.
Thanks so much to Richard, Facebook group creator Whitney Fruge, Brian Ramos (group VP, commemorative posters!), and Allan Porostovsky for the custom t-shirts! Some $250 was donated Sunday toward a new bike for Richard. (Monday's meetup more than doubled the total.) Richard is a super great guy who deserves our support.
Be sure to sign up at the group Facebook page, and stay tuned for more photos and fun.

Grinn Rides : Scroll waaaaaay down past this text to see the photos and maps!

Greg and Quinn - Grinn, get it - want to do regular Saturday afternoon easier paced offroad rides. Greg and Quinn have (as of late October '08) posted a Grinn Ride blog. Feel free to post your comments/questions there. Always check there for any changes/revisions to the weekly ride.
NOTE: during Standard Time the Grinn ride start time is moving to 2pm beginning SATURDAY, 8 November. That gives us a "just in case" darkness safety margin.

Miccosukee Greenway is managed by Leon County Division of Parks and Recreation. Download PDF maps at the bottom of this webpage.
Or here ya go:
Here's a PDF of all the Miccosukee Greenway trails, end to end.
Just Fleischmann Rd TH to Thornton Rd TH at I-10.
Just Thornton Rd TH at I-10 to Crump Rd TH.
Another greenway map link, with optional layers viewable, e.g., 2ft contour lines. (I'm working through a goofy proxy server while posting that map link. If the link is broken, I'll fix it by Armistice Day, ok?)

With each week's maps, photos, and videos grouped in reverse chronological order, here are weekly summations:
3Jan09 - Greg and Quinn hosted Sandi, Tripp and me. We picked up and dropped off Tripp at Thornton, as he was late arriving. Ride track includes my commute.
27Dec08 - A Gregless Quinn hosted great group with Beth, Tripp, Miriem, Neil, and me. Ride track includes my commute.
15Nov08: Quinn, Greg, Chris, Kelly, and me. Out and back, we have to weave our way through the FHSAA Region 1 1A/3A XC meet at the Edenfield 5Km course. Ride track.
8Nov08: It's Greg, Quinn, Tripp, Sandi, Chris, and me. Near the Crump turnaround, Kelly joins us. After we finish the ride this happens right in front of the Fleischmann TH. Grinn Ride blog post. Ride track. Video up, finally.
BEGINNING 8Nov08: Due to Standard Time, we've switched from a 3pm start to a 2pm start!!
1Nov08: Quinn takes over, as Greg is busy. Tripp and I join the ride. Ride track includes my "commute" to and from the Grinn Ride.
25Oct08: Today, it was Greg, Quinn, Tripp, Christine, and me. Pretty standard ride, though I veered off from the gang a coupla' times. Ride track.
18Oct08: It's back to Greg, Quinn and me this afternoon. Four photos and one mini video. A Grinn Ride flyer is in the works. We discuss the possibility of the kids starting their own Grinn blog! Ride track.
11Oct08: I missed this one, due to my work with FSC #3.
4Oct08: The ride takes on a factor of ugliness this Saturday. Tripp, Greg and I ride without a single female along to temper typical male behavior. Tripp relates a Gainesville story about bums on bikes. Hey, that's us anytime the women leave us to our own devices - it's not the GRINN Ride, it's a BOB Ride. You didn't think I was going to photo/video document this ride, did you? The ride track is visible is viewable here.
27Sep08: Birthday boy plus one day Greg, Quinn, Sandi, are joined by Tripp and Patrick for our ride. Sorry, no photos or videos today!
20Sep08: Sandi joined Beth, Quinn, Greg and me at Fleischmann TH for the out-and-back.
13Sep08: Greg and I met Beth at 3pm for the 14.35M ride after the Joe's Dirty Time Trial fundraiser.
6Sep08: 14.45M, was a near clone of week one.
I did take a bunch more snaps. Goal for week 3? Bring a real camera!
30Aug08: A full 14.34M Miccosukee Greenway Park out-and back.
We met at the Fleischmann Road trailhead, pedaled to the Crump TH, returned. Counting all the sightseeing and horsing around, we were out for a little under 2.5 hours. Flooding at the Arvah Branch bridge made for some wet shoe fun! Next time, I'll actually take a bunch of photos and vids.

With a gallery full of shots, you may find it easier to navigate if you change the gallery "style" (top right) from "smugmug" to "all thumbs." Or "slideshow" or "filmstrip" or . . . you get the idea, it's configurable by you. I usually like "journal."

Joe's Dirty Time Trial : A fund raiser for Joe after Joe's Bike Shop was flooded out after Tropical Storm Fay. This was a TT carried out on the 2.5M Lower (East) Cadillac Trail loop.

You folks just Photoshop 'em yourselves, m-kay?
Videos are posted on the first gallery page to make 'em easier to find.

Tour de Felasco 2007/2006 : It's the 13 January 2007 "5th Annual" version of this ~50M off-roadie. Plus I went back and tacked on my crappy photos (146-149) from the 54.9M 2006 Tour, as well.

Try changing the gallery "style" for easier viewing/navigating. Pulldown menu, top right. I like "journal." "All thumbs" is best for quickly finding one shot.

See here for the scoop:

Who registered to ride?

To start, a few photos posted from my ~9M Friday preview ride, mostly around Cellon Creek Loop and the Cotton Tail Trail. Next, the 3 official park trail maps. Finally, the Saturday ride photos. Sorry - I really failed at getting enough on-the-trails photos.
After a start in the 50s at the ride's beginning, things warmed to the mid 70s or so. At least 25 degrees warmer than last year.
Wanna shortcut "as the crow flies" from the start to lunch?

Video assembled from the small clips I managed to shoot around the course:

Please bear with me on that video. It's my first attempt at this YouTube kid's game.

http://sanfelasco.net/ photo galleries are up as of late Sep '07!

I spotted P-Snoop the Pugsley in that second gallery, ~photo 140.

Awesome support staff on the course as always! You folks rock. I can't begin to imagine the pre-ride planning and hours of work getting things ready. Many thanks.
Send any ID!

To answer an inquiry about the Pugsley's weight:
As outfitted for Felasco this year, it weighed 43.62lb.
Minus filled water bottle, Hammer Gel filled Surly flask, MountainMorph pump, and underseat wedgie toolbag, 39.99lb.
